Wayne Rooney stated he would like to see Danny Welbeck return to play for Manchester United.
Welbeck, a 34-year-old Manchester United academy product, was Rooney’s teammate at Old Trafford from 2008 to 2014.

Once highly regarded by Sir Alex Ferguson, Welbeck’s position in the team declined after Ferguson left, and he was later sold by Louis van Gaal.
After playing for Arsenal and Watford, the former England international has found success at Brighton.
Welbeck recently scored the winning goal for Brighton against Newcastle, leading Rooney to praise his skills.
Speaking from Old Trafford as a BBC pundit for Manchester United’s FA Cup match against Fulham, the former Man Utd captain said: “Danny is a fantastic player to play with.
To be honest, I would still like to see him playing for Manchester United.
He has consistently scored goals throughout his career. Although he had injury issues earlier on, he has overcome them and is currently having an excellent season.”
This season, Welbeck has scored seven Premier League goals in 25 appearances.
This is more than the combined total of Rasmus Hojlund (two) and Joshua Zirkzee (three) for this season.
Neither of Manchester United’s underperforming forwards scored in their recent FA Cup match, which resulted in their elimination from the competition.
Hojlund, aged 22, was substituted by Chido Obi in the 68th minute after a lackluster performance.
Zirkzee played the entire 120 minutes but missed a crucial penalty during the penalty shootout.
Rooney, 39, expressed his positive impression of Obi’s recent appearance.
He said: “What I really like about him is that he gets into excellent positions. I’ve been very impressed.
“He looked like he could score the winning goal.”
