Respected Russian coach Viktor Yanchuk commented on Andrey Rublev’s defeat to Matteo Arnaldi in the second round of the Indian Wells Masters (4-6, 5-7).
“I would say that it’s worth noting Rublev’s fluctuating form here. Even before he won the tournament in Doha, there was an upswing, and then some kind of decline, as usual. If there is a large reserve, then you can play two or three tournaments. Apparently, he simply gave too much strength,” said Yanchuk.
The expert also spoke about Novak Djokovic’s exit from the tournament.
“This suggests that his time is generally over. Now I don’t know what he can hope for. For some random wins? It’s unlikely he will win another Grand Slam; he has already set a record in this regard.”
