Daniel Sturridge and Wayne Rooney experienced an unexpected shower when sprinklers turned on during their coverage of the Liverpool versus Paris Saint-Germain Champions League match.
The two former England players were part of the Amazon Prime Video broadcast team, alongside presenter Gabby Logan and AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf.
During halftime of the exciting game, the commentary team was caught off guard by the sprinklers at Anfield stadium.
Footage from the Prime Video broadcast showed the team quickly moving to avoid getting wet.
Sturridge, aged 35, even let out a shout as he reacted to the sudden spray.
The four of them had just finished watching a thrilling first half of the match.
Liverpool entered the second leg match with a 1-0 lead from the previous game in Paris.
However, Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain team equalized the score in the first 12 minutes of the game with a goal by Ousmane Dembele.
Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, had previously admitted that his team was “lucky” to win the first leg.
Liverpool resisted many attacks from PSG before securing a late victory thanks to a goal from Harvey Elliott.
Slot commented, “We weren’t just a little lucky, we were very lucky – but as Michael Jordan once said: ‘The harder you work, the more luck you have’.”
“This is the biggest compliment to give to the players, they worked incredibly hard.”
“It also shows how mentally and physically strong the players are – after spending 45 minutes defending against the opposition who had the ball a lot – to produce a second-half performance where they didn’t allow as many clear chances as in the first half.”
