Henry Cejudo experienced a tough night at UFC Seattle. The former champion sustained a serious eye injury from multiple eye pokes, which led to a fight stoppage against Song Yadong and a technical decision loss. This defeat marked Cejudo’s third consecutive loss, and he now faces an indefinite medical suspension until cleared by an ophthalmologist for his eye injury.
The Washington State Department of Licensing released the UFC Seattle medical suspensions. Due to the eye injury, Cejudo needs clearance before his suspension is lifted. He has a minimum suspension until March 24 and no contact until March 15.
Following the fight, Cejudo reported suffering from double vision, soft tissue damage, and corneal abrasion due to the eye poke.
Song Yadong received a potentially longer suspension until August 21, with no clear reason provided by the commission for the six-month duration. Nikolay Veretennikov also received a lengthy suspension until August 21 pending an MRI and doctor’s clearance for a right shoulder injury.
