The UFC 313 event, headlined by the Alex Pereira vs. Magomed Ankalaev fight, has been impacted by a late cancellation.
UFC officials have announced that John Castaneda was forced to withdraw from his scheduled featherweight fight against Chris Gutierrez due to illness. This is the second fight to be cancelled for this card, following the earlier removal of Curtis Blaydes vs. Rizvan Kuniev due to Blaydes’ illness. As a result, the UFC 313 pay-per-view event will proceed with a total of 10 fights.
Castaneda was previously scheduled to compete at UFC Vegas 103 the previous week, but his bout was cancelled due to his opponent’s medical issue. He was aiming to recover from a previous loss to Daniel Marcos.
Chris Gutierrez will now have to wait for his next fight in the octagon. He was originally slated to face Jean Matsumoto on this card, but Matsumoto was moved to UFC Seattle.
