The UFC 313 event has been further impacted as the preliminary fight between Curtis Blaydes and Rizvan Kuniev has been cancelled just hours before the event.
Promotional officials announced on Saturday that Curtis Blaydes has fallen ill, leading to the cancellation of his featured preliminary bout with Rizvan Kuniev. This marks the second fight cancellation for UFC 313 due to illness, following John Castaneda’s withdrawal from his bout with Chris Gutierrez.
With this cancellation, the card is now reduced to 10 fights. The flyweight bout between Joshua Van and Rei Tsuruya has been elevated to the featured preliminary spot.
Curtis Blaydes was aiming to bounce back from a recent loss to interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall at UFC 304. Rizvan Kuniev was scheduled to make his debut in the UFC after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series.
