World No. 17 Frances Tiafoe had an unusual start to his second-round Masters match in Indian Wells when he realized he had forgotten his rackets.
Upon arriving on the court to face Damir Dzumhur, Tiafoe opened his bag and discovered it was empty. The start of the match was delayed by more than 10 minutes as Tiafoe’s coach had to retrieve his rackets from the locker room.
Despite the pre-match mishap, the umpire issued no penalties to Tiafoe. He went on to win his match against the 84th-ranked Damir Dzumhur of Bosnia in two tight sets, 7-6(4), 7-6(7).
In the next round, Tiafoe is scheduled to play against Yosuke Watanuki of Japan.
