TGL is a new team golf league where teams compete head-to-head in 15-hole matches. Each match is divided between a large simulator and a special green that adjusts to replicate the ball’s position from the simulator for short shots. The first nine holes are played in alternate shot format, while the last six are singles.
Each team has three players. Matches begin with tee shots on real grass into a massive screen, 64 feet by 53 feet – 24 times larger than a standard golf simulator.
For shots of 130 yards or more, including most tee shots, golfers use a back box 35 yards from the screen. This box offers real fairway grass, rough, and sand. For 50 to 129-yard shots, they use a front box 21 yards from the screen.
The landing spot of tee shots determines the next challenge: approach shots from natural grass fairways, deep rough, or sand. For shots under 50 yards, players move to the adjusting green to finish the hole.
