Russian tennis players have shared their memories of their school days.
Daniil Medvedev: ‘I was always in the background. Teachers didn’t see me as a troublemaker, but I enjoyed being around the mischievous kids. Smart classmates, good students, would help me out, but I also got along well with the “hooligans”. So I was always somewhere in the middle, in the shadows. I consistently got good grades. I liked school.’
Andrey Rublev: ‘I was very friendly. I had excellent relationships with all my classmates, both boys and girls.
I was always doing silly things, not listening to the teacher. If something was interesting, I’d try to learn, but most of the time I was just having fun. We’d play with other kids, throw things during lessons, run around during breaks, throw backpacks at each other.’
Karen Khachanov: ‘I was constantly late. I’ve had a problem with punctuality since childhood. Of course, because of my height, I was always first in line.’
