Shamil Tarpischev, the President of the Russian Tennis Federation, believes that Andrey Rublev should bring a psychologist onto his team. The Russian player has suffered defeats in both matches following his title win in Doha.

According to Tarpischev, “He needs a psychologist. Rublev’s main issue is that he consistently overtrains. He is so dedicated that he ends up training excessively, which is detrimental to him. He doesn’t seem to recognize when he needs to stop and rest.”

Tarpischev added, “I often had to stop his training sessions during the Davis Cup because they were becoming excessive. He needs to properly structure both his training regime and tournament schedule to allow for adequate recovery. This would lead to improved and more consistent results, rather than the current fluctuations between wins and losses,” as quoted by RIA Novosti.
