The boxing event headlined by Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans has just gotten even more interesting. Another fight featuring former UFC competitors has been announced.
It was revealed on Saturday that Diego Sanchez, the original winner of The Ultimate Fighter, will compete against John Makdessi at ICS Mania 1. The event is scheduled for April 12th at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This card is headlined by the highly anticipated rematch between former UFC light heavyweight champions Jackson and Evans.
While the card includes several well-known names from the UFC, the event date is raising eyebrows. It coincides with UFC 314, which is expected to be a major UFC pay-per-view event with a stacked fight card.
Sanchez is seeking his first victory in combat sports in over five years. His last win was a disqualification victory against Michel Pereira in February 2020 at UFC Rio Rancho. Most recently, Sanchez was defeated by Austin Trout at BKFC KnuckleMania 3 in February 2023.
Makdessi will be making his first appearance in the ring since his final UFC fight in September 2023 at UFC 293, where he suffered a loss.
