Robbie Lawler has been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame once more.
The announcement of Lawler’s induction into the Modern Wing of the UFC Hall of Fame, at age 42, was made during the UFC 313 broadcast from Las Vegas on Saturday. He was already inducted in 2023 for his legendary fight with Rory MacDonald at UFC 189.
Lawler’s individual induction was expected due to his UFC championship and popularity with fans. Known as “Ruthless,” he became famous as an exciting fighter in the early 2000s UFC before competing in Strikeforce and EliteXC. His return to the UFC in 2013 led to an unexpected championship journey.
Victories over Josh Koscheck, Bobby Voelker, and MacDonald earned Lawler a title fight against Johny Hendricks at UFC 171 for the vacant welterweight belt. Despite losing the decision, he won the rematch at UFC 181, becoming champion and defending the title twice, including the famous rematch with MacDonald at UFC 189 and a memorable fight with Carlos Condit at UFC 195, which may also be inducted in the future.
During his UFC career (15 wins, 10 losses), Lawler received five Fight of the Night bonuses. He retired in July 2023 with a 30-16 (1 No Contest) professional record. His final fight at UFC 290 was a 38-second knockout victory over Niko Price.
The UFC Hall of Fame induction ceremony for 2025 will be on June 28 at T-Mobile Arena during International Fight Week. Other inductees announced are producer Craig Piligian (Contributor Wing) and the UFC 236 fight between Israel Adesanya and Kelvin Gastelum (Fight Wing).
Lawler joins other legends in the Modern Wing, including 2024 inductee Frankie Edgar, and greats like Jose Aldo, Daniel Cormier, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Georges St-Pierre, and women’s MMA pioneer Ronda Rousey.
