Rio Ferdinand praised Harvey Elliott for his professionalism after Liverpool’s victory over PSG.
Elliott, coming off the bench to replace Mo Salah, scored the winning goal against Paris in just 46 seconds.
He showed great determination to get into the box and score past Gianluigi Donnarumma with his first touch.
This goal secured a narrow victory for Arne Slot’s team, giving them a 1-0 advantage for the second leg at Anfield next week.
Elliott, 21, spoke to the media after the game alongside Alisson, the man of the match, who made several crucial saves for Liverpool.
Following the match, Elliott also made time for a cool-down session, working out with his fellow substitutes.
Rio Ferdinand, commentating on the game for TNT Sport, commended Elliott’s attitude after seeing him complete his post-match exercises.
The former defender commented: “That’s top-level professionalism.”
Elliott has had to be patient for playing opportunities this season, having started only four games so far.
However, he has performed well in European matches, scoring his third goal in his last three Champions League appearances.
Elliott’s goal was only Liverpool’s second shot on target in the entire match, scored in the 87th minute.
PSG had 27 shots and controlled 71% of the possession, but Liverpool’s defense, led by Alisson, and VAR, which disallowed a goal by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, kept them at bay.
