Czech tennis player Petra Kvitova has opened up about her decision to bring her son with her to the WTA 250 tournament in Austin, USA. Having given birth to her son in July, this tournament marks her first competition since becoming a mother.
“Sometimes when you are at tournaments and not playing, you can get bored,” Kvitova admitted. “Or you can get stuck on the psychological aspects of tennis, feel down being away from home.”
“My son and husband came with me to this tournament. I couldn’t have left my son and come without him, I would have missed him too much. Now I have more of a family life than just tennis, tennis, tennis.”
Kvitova added, “Until you have a child, you can’t even imagine how it will be. It’s hard to describe. Thanks to you, another person comes into the world. It’s a miracle.”
