Patchy Mix has officially joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster.
The former Bellator bantamweight champion, widely considered the top 135-pound fighter outside the promotion, has found a new organization following his recent release from the PFL.
He won`t have to wait long for his first fight; Mix is scheduled to compete against Mario Bautista at the upcoming UFC 316 event.
The announcement of Mix`s signing and debut was made during the UFC broadcast on Saturday.
Mix enters the UFC with an impressive professional record of 20 wins and only 1 loss, including 15 finishes.
During his successful run in Bellator, Mix secured victories over notable opponents such as Kyoji Horiguchi, Magomed Magomedov, Sergio Pettis, and Raufeon Stots.
He is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak, which includes claiming the Bellator bantamweight title and successfully defending it in his last bout, which took place in May 2024.
Mix had previously expressed dissatisfaction regarding a significant period of inactivity while under contract with the PFL and subsequently requested his release.
The PFL ultimately agreed to his request, issuing a statement that the promotion would not be extending Mix’s contract and he was free to pursue opportunities with other organizations.
It became clear that it didn`t take long for Mix to finalize a deal with the UFC. He is immediately stepping into a prominent fight against Bautista after Marlon “Chito” Vera was forced to withdraw from the card due to injury.
Mario Bautista is also on a seven-fight win streak, including a split decision victory over Jose Aldo. He will be looking to provide Patchy Mix with a challenging welcome to the octagon when they face off at UFC 316.
The UFC 316 event is expected to feature a double main event with two title fights: Bantamweight king Merab Dvalishvili versus Sean O’Malley in a rematch, and Julianna Pena challenging two-time Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison for the bantamweight championship.
