Newcastle United has resolved a kit dispute with their former owner, Mike Ashley.

The head of Sports Direct had taken legal action against his old club after his stores were prohibited from selling the official Newcastle United kits.

Ashley also made a £1.5 million claim against Newcastle United.

Sports Direct was unable to sell this season’s jerseys, meaning fans could only purchase them from the club’s official store, Adidas, and JD Sports.

Losses for Sports Direct due to the ban likely increased after Newcastle United won the Carabao Cup the previous weekend.

Newcastle’s victory ended their 70-year wait for a trophy, and supporters are eager to buy the historic kits.

Recent financial reports from the club indicated confidence in winning the case.

However, Newcastle, Adidas, and JD Sports have now reached a confidential agreement with Ashley and Sports Direct.

This agreement, known as a ‘Tomlin Order,’ is legally binding and enforceable for both parties.

Lawyers for Sports Direct had previously argued that preventing the store from selling more affordable shirts would negatively impact fans.

The Sports Direct owner sold the club to a Saudi Arabian-led consortium in 2021.

Newcastle United was contacted for comments.
