Former world No. 3, Nadezhda Petrova, shared her expectations for world No. 6 Daniil Medvedev’s performance at the Masters tournament in Indian Wells.
Petrova suggests Medvedev might reach the quarter-finals, where he could face difficulties. She pointed out that a potentially strong opponent could be the Russian-speaking Australian Alexei Popyrin, whose playing style is well-suited for fast courts, featuring a powerful serve, net approaches, and excellent forehand. Another challenging opponent could be fourth-seeded Casper Ruud, whom she advises not to underestimate.
In his opening match, Medvedev will compete against China’s Bu Yunchaokete, who defeated American Nishesh Basavareddy in the first round with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
