World No. 6 Daniil Medvedev shared his thoughts on the court surface change at the Indian Wells Masters tournament. Starting this year, the event features a new court surface, identical to the one used in Miami.
“I like Indian Wells, and I even like these courts now. However, they feel even slower than before. Very slow.”
“I’m unsure what other players think. Additionally, I’ve only had two days here while adjusting to the time difference. So, I might be mistaken. I’ll refrain from making definitive comments for now.”
“We’ll see how the court speed is during the tournament. So far, I haven’t noticed a significant difference. But today, I accidentally dropped my racquet onto the court from a small height, and the overgrip tore. This indicates that the court is very rough. And when it’s rough, it’s slow,” Medvedev stated at a press conference.
