Croatian tennis veteran, Marin Cilic, has shared his thoughts on the doping case involving Italian tennis star and world No. 1, Jannik Sinner. Sinner is currently serving a three-month suspension after a positive doping test, a ban agreed upon with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Cilic commented, “I wasn’t even aware this was possible. From a player’s standpoint, I’m happy for Jannik. This allows him to put this uncomfortable situation behind him and clear his mind. Having known Jannik for a long time, I believe his account of what happened.”
He further added, “Even early in his career, it was clear he was a dedicated athlete. I’m pleased that this matter will soon be resolved. However, there are still several unanswered questions.” Cilic’s remarks were reported by Tennis365.
