World No. 48 Marcos Giron has announced his objectives for the 2025 season. Following his impressive run to the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters, where he defeated Nikoloz Basilashvili, Casper Ruud, and Alexei Popyrin, Giron is aiming high.
Giron stated, “I want to compete for titles. I want to reach the second week of Grand Slams and advance further in Masters events.” Reflecting on his previous season, where he finished in the Top 50 and reached a career-high ranking of 37, he acknowledged his success in smaller tournaments but expressed disappointment with his performance at Masters and Grand Slam level. However, he also noted the positive of winning his first title last year, describing the season as mixed.
He further elaborated on his evolving perspective, “When you first enter the tour, you’re simply happy to be there. Then, you start to consider, ‘Can I stay in the Top 100? Can I climb higher?’ I’ve been in the Top 100 for five years now, since 2020. But to get seeded and break into the Top 20, strong performances in major tournaments are essential. Therefore, a primary goal for this year is to progress further in Masters and Grand Slams.”
Concluding his statement optimistically, Giron added, “I’m uncertain how far I can go, but I will strive to win every match.”
