Manchester United is set to compete against fellow Premier League teams in a pre-season tournament across the United States, involving a significant journey of almost 9,000 miles.

The Red Devils aim to recover from their disappointing 2024/25 season with three matches against Premier League opponents in three different US states.

United will participate in the Premier League Summer Series in July and August, facing West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.

This marks the third consecutive year that Manchester United has chosen the US for their pre-season preparations.

Ruben Amorim’s team will commence their tour with a 3,334-mile flight from Manchester to New Jersey. There, they are scheduled to play against West Ham at MetLife Stadium on July 26th, the home of the NFL’s New York Jets and New York Giants.

Subsequently, they will take another flight, this time covering 782 miles to Chicago, to play against AFC Bournemouth just four days later.

This match will take place at Soldier Field, a historic NFL stadium and the home of MLS team Chicago Fire.

Following the Chicago game, the Red Devils will travel another 714 miles to Atlanta, arriving four days later.

In Atlanta, they will conclude their pre-season tour with a game against Everton at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

After the match against Everton, United will return to Manchester with a 4,080-mile flight.

The total distance traveled by Manchester United players and staff will reach an impressive 8,910 miles.

United is expected back in the UK in early August, just weeks before the start of the Premier League season.

The Premier League Summer Series was inaugurated in 2023 to offer US fans the chance to see their favorite Premier League teams.

Past tournaments have featured prominent clubs such as Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Brighton.

Jason Wilcox, Manchester United’s Technical Director, commented: “The pre-season period is always exciting for Manchester United players and fans. We are pleased to spend this time in the US, utilizing top-tier training facilities and stadiums, and connecting with our supporters.”

He added, “Playing against other Premier League teams provides valuable match practice against strong opponents. It also gives our passionate fans an opportunity to watch some of the world’s most renowned football teams compete live in iconic North American stadiums.”

The team will be aiming to improve their performance for the 2025/26 season.

Ruben Amorim himself recently acknowledged that the team has “deep scars” that need to be addressed for improvement.
