Magomed Ankalaev, the newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion, is already making waves.

After securing a decisive unanimous victory over Alex Pereira at UFC 313 to claim the title, Ankalaev has taken to social media to express his views. He acknowledged Pereira’s stature and sportsmanship, indicating a willingness to have an immediate rematch.

“It was an honor to share the cage with you, Alex Pereira,” Ankalaev posted. “You are a great champion, and your team and coaches are top class. Let’s do it again whenever you want.”

However, Ankalaev’s comments weren’t solely complimentary. He also boasted about his striking abilities against Pereira, highlighting that Pereira’s renowned striking power was not a factor in their recent fight.

“I watched the entire fight, and I can out-strike the best strikers,” Ankalaev stated. “For the first three rounds, I decided to strike with him, which was enjoyable despite him mostly running. My pressure was my strongest asset, and I am very pleased.”

Ankalaev also responded to former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka, who congratulated him but also suggested Pereira should face him in a trilogy fight and hinted at his own title aspirations after defeating Jamahal Hill at UFC 311. This comment did not sit well with Ankalaev.

“I think you are a fraud, and many others are more deserving than you,” Ankalaev retorted to Prochazka. “You need to go win some more fights.”

“This guy is a terrible fighter,” Ankalaev further added in response to a post about Prochazka.
