Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk was seen in conversation with Paris Saint-Germain executives, raising eyebrows among fans given his contract situation.
After Liverpool’s Champions League exit on Tuesday, losing 4-1 to PSG in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 aggregate score, footage emerged of Van Dijk speaking with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luis Campos.
This interaction occurred shortly after the match and followed a prior incident where Campos reportedly complained about a decision in the first leg.
Liverpool supporters are now concerned as Van Dijk’s contract is set to expire in June, and no news regarding an extension has been announced.
Following the video, fans took to social media to voice their worries about the Liverpool captain potentially moving to PSG.
One fan lamented, “As if the defeat wasn’t painful enough.”
Another commented with disappointment, “Great, just what we needed to see.”
A third fan expressed dismay, “Oh, that’s just wonderful, isn’t it.”
Despite the fan concerns and the meeting, there are no current reports suggesting Van Dijk is considering a transfer to PSG.
However, Liverpool faces uncertainty regarding the future of key players like Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah, as their contracts are also expiring in June.
