Real Madrid is prepared to offer Liverpool a transfer fee to acquire Trent Alexander-Arnold before the Club World Cup in June.
The Spanish club had previously paused their pursuit after Liverpool’s management turned down a £20 million bid in January.
Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool is set to expire on June 30, allowing him to join another club without a transfer fee.
However, Real Madrid wants the England right-back, aged 26, to join Carlo Ancelotti’s team before the Club World Cup starts in the USA on June 15.
To make this happen, Real Madrid would need to reach a transfer agreement with Liverpool to release Alexander-Arnold from his contract early.
Liverpool’s season could extend until May 31 if they advance to the Champions League final in Munich.
The Premier League season’s final games are scheduled for May 25.
Currently leading by 13 points with only ten games remaining, Liverpool is likely to secure the title well in advance of the season’s end.
This summer’s transfer window will open earlier than usual on June 1, enabling new players to be registered for the Club World Cup.
FIFA has established a special registration period before the tournament’s round of 16, from June 27 to July 3, allowing clubs to add up to two players to their squads.
Ancelotti’s team will play against Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia in their opening group match in Miami on June 18.
