MMA fighters Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev, known for their spectacular first fight, will have a rematch this Saturday at UFC 313.
Their previous encounter took place at UFC 286 in London in March 2023. The lightweight bout was a highlight of the evening, showcasing an intense exchange of strikes. Gaethje won by majority decision after three rounds. Notably, the judges’ scores were varied: one judge gave Gaethje the first round, while another scored the third round in Gaethje’s favor 10-8.
Both athletes received $50,000 as a “Fight of the Night” bonus. For Gaethje, this is his 13th bonus in 13 UFC fights, and for Fiziev, it’s his 6th in 9 bouts.
The rematch became possible after the cancellation of Gaethje’s fight against Dan Hooker due to a hand injury to Hooker. Fiziev quickly agreed to replace him and got the opportunity, outperforming other contenders. This fight will be his first since his loss to Mateusz Gamrot in September 2023, where he sustained a knee injury.
The Gaethje vs. Fiziev fight will again be the co-main event of the pay-per-view evening, preceding the main event of UFC 313 between Alex Pereira and Magomed Ankalaev.
