Joshua Zirkzee was visibly distraught and wept after Manchester United’s painful FA Cup elimination.
The Red Devils and Fulham were tied 1-1, leading to a penalty shootout.




The Dutch forward missed the crucial penalty, resulting in his team’s elimination from the FA Cup.
Zirkzee was visibly emotional on the field after the match ended.
His teammates immediately offered him comfort due to his obvious distress.
Fulham’s Alex Iwobi also showed his support to the Netherlands international.
Manager Ruben Amorim put a comforting arm around him.
Zirkzee had previously been the hero in United’s FA Cup third round victory against Arsenal.
He scored the winning penalty at Emirates Stadium to eliminate the Gunners.
However, this time Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno correctly guessed the direction and saved the penalty from the former Bologna player.
Fulham had taken an early lead when Calvin Bassey scored a header from an Andreas Pereira corner in the first half.
The goal was similar to one scored by Fulham in their 2023 FA Cup match at Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes equalized for Man Utd, sending the game into extra time with a first-time low shot past Leno.
Neither team could score during the additional 30 minutes, leading to a penalty shootout.
Victor Lindelof missed the first penalty when his shot was stopped by the German goalkeeper.
Zirkzee’s subsequent penalty, which he needed to score to keep United in the shootout, was also saved.
