World No. 48, Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, commented on his victory over Canadian Denis Shapovalov, ranked 32nd, with a score of 7-6(3), 7-6(1) at the ATP 500 tournament in Acapulco, Mexico.
‘The match was very intense. In the first set, perhaps he deserved to win more. In the second set, perhaps I deserved to win more. But in the end, I didn’t lose to him because I was ready for anything. It’s not every day that I reach the final of an ATP 500 tournament. I am very happy that I was able to come back in the first set and continued to play well in the second set,’ said the tennis player, according to the ATP official website.
In the Acapulco final, Davidovich Fokina will compete for the title against 25th-ranked Tomas Machac from the Czech Republic.
