Former world No. 1 in doubles, Rennae Stubbs, has shared her thoughts on the recent challenges faced by 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. At a tournament in Doha, Qatar, Djokovic was defeated in the first round by Italian player Matteo Berrettini.
Following the match, it was revealed that Djokovic had sustained an injury. He was observed limping at the airport as he departed Qatar.
Stubbs commented, ‘Berrettini played an exceptional match. His forehand was outstanding.’
She continued, ‘I am aware that Djokovic experienced leg issues earlier this year in Australia. He has had recurring injuries in recent years, affecting both his knee and leg. Novak has consistently demonstrated his ability to recover and regain his top form, arguably better than any other tennis player. However, his current lack of victories is becoming concerning.’
Stubbs further elaborated, ‘Consider the scenario: you take time away from playing, then return to the court as you age. It requires even greater effort to regain fitness, leading to increased нервозность, and the body becomes more vulnerable. Overall, I perceive that he is encountering increasing difficulties,’ Stubbs stated, as reported by Sportskeeda.
