World No. 2 from Poland, Iga Swiatek, shared her impressions after reaching the 1/8 finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, USA. In the second round match, she confidently defeated Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska.
Her opponent managed to win only two games in the match, with the final score being 6-0, 6-2.
“The ending was a little tense. It’s always challenging to close out matches like this. I’m glad that I managed to increase my tempo in the final game and confidently finish. It was a great match, without a doubt. I dominated on the court from the first minutes. I’m very happy with how everything went,” Swiatek said on court after the match.
For a place in the quarter-finals, Iga will compete against the winner of the match between Karolína Muchová (Czech Republic) and Kateřina Siniaková (Czech Republic).
