World No. 2 Iga Swiatek has revealed that she is following the political situation in the world.
“I know what happened on Twitter with our minister [Radosław Sikorski], but I don’t think I’m in a position to talk about politics. We live in a very complex world, tensions are very high. I have spoken a lot about Ukraine, and everyone knows my point of view. I am aware of what is happening,” the Polish player responded at a press conference in Indian Wells.
Swiatek was also asked about her recent poor results in the Middle East.
“Everyone gets angry because of defeats. I expected better results from myself in both Doha and Dubai.
In tennis, it is important to leave everything behind and concentrate on the future. I’m doing quite well at that. I don’t think I will win every tournament.
After Dubai, I had more time to train. In Doha and Dubai, the balls were terrible – like potatoes. I focused and trained here to feel a little better.”
