Goodison Park might soon host a new football team.
Everton is preparing for an emotional farewell to their iconic home at the end of this season, as they move to a new £760 million stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
From the start of the 2025/26 season, Everton will play their football at the new 52,888-seat stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
The club has invested £760 million in building this modern arena.
For many Everton fans, Goodison Park, with its 39,500 capacity, has been the only home they’ve ever known.
However, it’s now being considered as a potential new home for the club’s Women’s Team.
According to reports, the departure of the men’s team opens up the possibility for Everton Women’s Super League team to move into Goodison Park permanently.
Currently, Everton Women play at the Walton Hall Park Stadium, a smaller venue with a 2,200 capacity, located five miles outside the city center.
In comparison, Goodison Park is situated just under three and a half miles from Liverpool city center, making it a more central location.
The feasibility of Everton Women moving to Goodison depends on the Goodison Legacy Project, a proposal submitted to the local government in April 2020.
The Goodison Legacy Project proposes to redevelop the Goodison Park site to include affordable and social housing, with plans for ten new development blocks.
The project also aims to build a health center, residential care and education facilities, and new office spaces, contributing to the local community.
Moving Everton Women to Goodison Park is seen as a way to complement the Goodison Legacy Project, potentially bringing continued sporting use to the site.
A final decision regarding the future of Goodison Park will be made after the men’s team completes its relocation to Bramley-Moore Dock.
Everton’s next match is away against Wolves next Saturday.
