In an interview with The Athletic, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina shared her perspective on the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Svitolina noted a feeling of increased unity among Ukrainians, stemming from a perceived lack of support from the U.S. in recent times.
She stated that this situation has compelled Ukrainians to unite and support each other for the sake of their country. Svitolina expressed that while Trump’s presidency is still in its early stages, some decisions have already negatively affected Ukrainians.
“I feel genuinely sorry for all the innocent individuals who have been impacted by this,” the athlete commented.
It’s worth noting that a previous meeting between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington reportedly became contentious, leading to a breakdown in further communication.
