Swiss tennis player Dominic Stricker, ranked 289th in the world, has responded to rumors about his retirement, which emerged due to disagreements with the Swiss Tennis Federation.
22-year-old Stricker wrote on social media that he is surprised by media reports about his possible departure from tennis.
According to Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the leadership of the Swiss Tennis Federation, including Alessandro Greco and Severin Lüthi, are dissatisfied with the influence of Stricker’s father on the athlete. The father is also Dominic’s agent. The Federation may reduce support for Stricker if he does not refuse his father’s services, but the tennis player does not want to do this. According to media reports, the situation could lead to Stricker’s retirement.
At the US Open 2023, Stricker reached the fourth round, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas. This is his best result at Grand Slam tournaments.
