Gervonta Davis remained undefeated after his fight in Brooklyn, but many believe the outcome should have been different.
Despite being the clear favorite, Davis and Lamont Roach fought to a majority draw at the Tank vs. Roach event on Saturday night. The scorecards were already seen as controversial, but the real point of contention was the ninth round.
The official scorecards were 115-113, 114-114, 114-114. However, in Round 9, Davis unexpectedly took a knee and went to his corner because he had forgotten his mouthpiece. This action, which many would consider a knockdown, was allowed by the referee without penalty, and the fight continued, leaving many puzzled.
In the later rounds, Roach demonstrated great resilience and managed to go the distance. Although he wasn’t declared the winner, many feel he deserved the victory.

Roach performed well, but I thought Tank narrowly won. A draw is possible if you count the knee as a knockdown. Tank was more precise and landed the bigger punches. But honestly, it looked like easy work.

This is why boxing is losing fans. Tank clearly took a knee voluntarily, and regardless of the reason, it should have been counted as a knockdown. I still scored it 7-5 for Lamont Roach, and that win was stolen from him. Such BS.

I’ve never seen someone take a knee and it not be counted as a knockdown. They must have forgotten the rules for tonight.
