World No. 8 Daniil Medvedev has disclosed the tennis player he admired watching during his younger years.
Medvedev shared, ‘You know whose matches I really loved to watch? Especially on clay courts, strangely enough, Florian Mayer. I played against him in my first Challenger final (in Portoroz in 2016). I felt good, but I lost 2/6, 1/6. He just destroyed me and my tennis.’ He made these comments during a dinner with Grigor Dimitrov, Juan Martin Del Potro, and James Blake ahead of the Miami Masters.
