Australian Cruz Hewitt, the world No. 1176 and son of two-time Grand Slam champion Lleyton Hewitt, has reached the final of an ITF tournament in Launceston, Australia. In the semi-final, the 16-year-old defeated South Korean Shin Sanhui, ranked 673rd, in a 2 hour and 10 minute match, with a score of 7-6(1), 1-6, 6-3.
This is Hewitt Jr.’s first time reaching the final of an ITF series tournament. He will compete for the title against fellow Australian Jason Kubler, the world No. 516.
In January, Cruz Hewitt received a wild card for the qualifying rounds of a major tournament for the first time but lost in the first qualifying round of the Australian Open to Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia.
