Chris Eubank Jr. has been penalized financially for his prank involving Conor Benn.
During the initial press conference for their highly anticipated boxing match last month, Eubank caused a commotion by slapping Benn with an egg during their face-to-face encounter.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) took a dim view of Eubank’s behavior and, as a result, has fined him £100,000, which is approximately $129,000.
According to a statement from the BBBoC, following a hearing, Chris Eubank Jr. was found to have violated Regulation 25 (misconduct) due to his actions at the press conference in Manchester on April 26, 2025, promoting the fight between him and Conor Benn.
Consequently, the Board’s Stewards imposed a fine of £100,000 on Chris Eubank Jr.
Both Eubank and Benn come from boxing families, with their fathers having a famous rivalry in the early 1990s.
Originally, Eubank and Benn were scheduled to fight in 2022, but the match was called off after Benn tested positive for Clomiphene, a banned substance that can elevate testosterone levels in men, just days before the event.
Benn eventually cleared his name and had his suspension lifted. During this process, he claimed that consuming too many eggs was the reason for his positive drug test. Eubank was clearly aware of this, explaining his choice to slap Benn with an egg at the press conference.
Eubank later commented that throwing an egg at someone who blamed contaminated eggs for failing two drug tests was a mild reaction and deserved. He added that Benn deserved the embarrassment and he would repeat his actions if given the chance.
Eubank and Benn are still scheduled to fight on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
