World No. 5 Casper Ruud humorously commented on the attractiveness of World No. 11 Tommy Paul after losing to him in a mixed doubles exhibition match in Indian Wells. This was a playful reference to a ‘most handsome tennis player’ contest organized by the Nothing Major podcast (hosted by John Isner, Sam Querrey, Jack Sock, and Steve Johnson). In the contest, Paul was defeated by Matteo Berrettini in the final.
In the exhibition match, Ruud and Maria Sakkari of Greece were defeated by Paul and Madison Keys of the USA, with a score of 6-10.
‘It’s tough. When you play against an Australian Open champion and a model, you have to be at your best, and we weren’t. The model outplayed us,’ said Ruud after the match.
