World No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz has reflected on the most challenging period of his career.
The Spanish tennis star described his right forearm injury in April 2024 on clay as the most difficult tennis-related experience. This injury forced him to withdraw from several important tournaments, including those in Spain.
Alcaraz admitted he had doubts about his recovery and ability to regain his form. “I was worried about when I could play at full strength again and if I would recover confidence in my shots because this injury really bothered me,” he explained.
Despite doctors’ initial assurances of a quick recovery, the pain persisted, increasing his uncertainty. “Time passed, but my arm continued to hurt, making me doubt my return to the court. I wasn’t sure if I could hit forehands with the same power, especially with significant tournaments approaching,” Alcaraz stated.
