Four-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 3 Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz has shared his opinion on the Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) lawsuit against international tennis organizations in various countries’ courts. The lawsuit referenced the Spaniard’s words from 2024.

“Honestly, it was completely unexpected for me. In fact, nobody told me anything about it. Yesterday, I saw in social media that some statements were made… They included in their statement something I said at a press conference, about which I was not informed. Frankly, I do not support this letter. I do not support it because I didn’t know anything about it. There are some things I agree with, and there are things I disagree with. The main thing is – I am not on their side,” Alcaraz was quoted as saying by the Miami tournament press service.

Alcaraz’s words, referenced by the PTPA, were said ahead of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing in 2024. There, the Spaniard spoke about the dense schedule: “They are going to kill the players in some way.”

The PTPA, founded in 2020 with the active participation of Novak Djokovic, has accused the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), the International Tennis Federation (ITF), and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) of abuse and blatant disregard for the well-being of players. Well-known tennis players such as Nick Kyrgios, Reilly Opelka, Varvara Gracheva, and Sorana Cirstea are among the plaintiffs.
