World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, a three-time Grand Slam champion from Belarus, has expressed her reaction to being nominated for the Laureus ‘Sportswoman of the Year’ award, an annual prestigious sports award.
‘It’s a great honor to be nominated for the Laureus Award. Thank you!’ Sabalenka posted on social media.
Sabalenka will compete for the ‘Sportswoman of the Year’ title against gymnast Simone Biles (USA), footballer Aitana Bonmati (Spain), and runners Sifan Hassan (Netherlands) and Faith Kipyegon (Kenya).
In 2024, Sabalenka successfully defended her Australian Open title and won her first US Open.
