Born on March 2, 1989, in Krasnodar, Alexandra’s family has a sporting background. Her father, Alexander, is a handball coach, and her mother, Galina, is a homemaker. She has an older sister, Olga, who also serves as her coach. Alexandra began playing tennis at the age of nine.
Panova turned professional in 2003. Throughout her career, she has secured eight ITF singles titles and accumulated prize money of $1,892,180. Her notable achievements include one WTA final appearance in Bogota, Colombia, in 2012. In doubles, she has won 10 titles and has been a finalist multiple times.

At Grand Slam tournaments, Panova has not advanced beyond the second round.
In 2013, she represented Russia in the Federation Cup for the only time, losing to Roberta Vinci in the final match against Italy.
