Tension between Pereira and Ankalaev escalated in the lead-up to UFC 313. Ankalaev mentioned Pereira’s frequent travels, including a trip to Australia to support Sean Strickland, as well as his nightlife.
Pereira responded by touching on the topic of Ramadan, during which Ankalaev was forced to break his fast to drink water while preparing for the weight cut.
All talk will end on Saturday, when Pereira attempts to defend his light heavyweight title for the fourth time, and Ankalaev will try to become UFC champion for the first time.
