According to various reports, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has received a substantial financial offer from the Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal.
Al-Hilal had previously approached Fernandes last year, prior to him signing his current contract with Manchester United, which is valid until 2027. Despite this, the Saudi club remains keen on acquiring the player and has now reportedly made a concrete offer.
Journalist Ben Jacobs claims that Al-Hilal is prepared to offer Fernandes an astonishing £65 million per season over a three-year period.
Fernandes has reportedly not yet responded to this offer, and Manchester United`s preference is to keep their key player. However, the financially powerful Saudi club is expected to seriously test United`s stance, especially considering the Red Devils` need to generate funds for potential new signings.
Al-Hilal is reportedly capable of breaking the British transfer record of £115 million, set when Chelsea signed Moises Caicedo from Brighton in 2023. The Riyadh club is preparing for significant spending this summer, backed by considerable financial resources.
They had previously allocated a massive £510 million package (covering fees and wages) in an unsuccessful attempt to sign Mohamed Salah from Liverpool.
Sources indicate that Al-Hilal is aiming to secure a major signing before the Club World Cup commences on June 15th.
Securing a transfer for Fernandes, however, appears challenging as Manchester United`s management is keen to retain him. The club`s stance was previously articulated by the Man Utd boss, who stated:
“No, it`s not going to happen. He`s not going anywhere because I`ve already told him. I want Bruno here because we want to win the Premier League again, so we want the best players to continue with us. He`s 30, but he`s still so young, because he plays 55 games every season. Between assists and goals, he`s there for 30 at least, so he`s the type of player we want here and he`s not going anywhere.”
